About Me

A little about me. . .
I grew up and graduated in Neepawa, MB. After a year at BU after graduation, I moved to Lethbridge, AB to complete my schooling in Criminal Justice. During both highschool and college I worked extensively with the youth justice committee on a local level. I had always aspired to be a police officer, with a strong desire to work with youth that were involved in the justice system. I completed the application process with Lethbridge Police Service but made the tough decision to focus on my future family instead of a career as a female in the policing field. I absolutely love the criminal justice field and hope that I will be able to use many aspects of that field in my work as an educator. While in school and after graduation I worked as a crisis counsellor in a battered women's shelter in Lethbridge for four years, using my criminal justice experience in a different, but equally challenging setting. After marrying my husband in 2002, we decided that we wanted to be closer to our family (although we love everything about Lethbridge) and made the move back to Manitoba.
After getting settled in Brandon, I decided to take a break from the very intense criminal justice field. I worked with my husband at our own business before deciding to start my own daycare to work with children in our home. Realizing how much I loved working with children on a daily basis, I decided to return to BU to finish my degree that I had started in 1998 and then continue on to the Education program.
My husband and I have been married for 10 years. We were absolutely blessed when our daughter was born in April of 2011. Juggling being a mom and a student is not always easy, but I would not change it for anything (except maybe a bit of sleep!). I love every aspect of my life right now. . . as crazy as it is!
